JURY SERVICE IS A VITAL FUNCTION OF DEMOCRACY.
Jury service is one of the most important duties of citizenship. It is also a very rewarding experience which will give you an opportunity to participate directly in the administration of justice. While it may require some adjustment of your normal schedule and routine to serve as a juror, we believe you will enjoy the opportunity to see your courts in action, to learn more about our system of justice, and to participate in one of the fundamental principles of our American heritage.
Please use good judgment and report properly dressed. Shorts, extremely short skirts, and tee shirts are inappropriate attire. We cannot be responsible for personal belongings and suggest that you do not bring expensive articles with you.
DO NOT BRING CHILDREN.
You will receive an expense allowance for each day that you are required to report to the facility. Checks are mailed following your service.
If you need to request an excusal, please fill out the enclosed "AFFIDAVIT OF JUROR EXCUSAL" which was mailed to you. YOU MUST SIGN the affidavit in witness of a NOTARY PUBLIC. Please return the affidavit promptly.
*** YOU MUST CALL (770) 531-7030 after 6:00 p.m. on the FRIDAY before your DESIGNATED reporting date for recorded instructions. There will be updates concerning your service. Your summons number and date to appear are located on the summons which was mailed to you. Listen carefully to this recording as the jurors not instructed to report will not be compensated. Juror report time is 9 a.m. unless otherwise stated differently in recorded instructions.
